Social Communication Groups

Children, adolescents, or adults who are baffled by social interaction present with diverse concerns and can benefit from programs which directly address their individual needs. This requires customized planning that integrates a variety of well-established techniques, family values, and client input.

Targeting Social Communication requires more than merely the development of “Social Skills.” Some clients benefit from small groups, some from practice with just one peer, and still more may require individual services. Many of our clients will transition between different programs throughout their course of enrollment, while others transition out on their own and are able to stabilize their skills independently.

Social Communication impacts many functional our client’s lives and their successful interaction with others. To best address their often changing needs, programs are tailored both to each individual, as well as to their collective groups.

Crimson Center for Speech & Language addresses individual and group needs by customizing techniques of leading researchers in the areas of social communication including:

  • Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking Curriculums:
                ILAUGH
               Superflex
               Social Thinking

  • Jed Baker’s Social Skills & Transitions
  • Carol Gray’s Social Stories
  • Barry Prizant & Amy Wetherby’s SCERTS model, which promotes generalization of social communication across curriculums and environments
