A native of the Pacific Northwest, Marilea joined The Crimson Center for Speech & Language in 2008. After completing her master’s degree at the University of Oregon, she worked in private practice in Seattle, Washington where she gained experience in the evaluation and treatment of children on the autism spectrum using the SCERTS model and other multi-disciplinary approaches.
As coordinator and facilitater of communication groups, Marilea works with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families to maximize social interaction skills. She is currently organizing a grant project funded by the National Foundation of Autism Research (NFAR) which includes a training program for oral and written language skills in the workplace. Marilea creates highly functional and engaging programs for children and teens which develop social communication skills in functional and fun environments. She is experienced om working with students with motor speech delays, nonverbal learning disorders, expressive and receptive language delays, and fluency issues. Marilea has been trained in PROMPT, SCERTS, and a variety of social communication approaches.
