Deanna has worked as a speech language pathologist in educational
and medical settings with both pediatric and adult populations, and earned her doctorate from Case Western Reserve University. Her
clinical research interests include adolescent language in typical and
clinical populations, communication abilities across the lifespan, and clinical
supervision.
An adjunct faculty and clinical supervisor at California State University San Marcos, Deanna has developed Crimson programs for grant projects through the National Foundation for Autism Research (NFAR), such as those designed to develop vocational communication skills in adolescents and young adults with autism. She is passionate about making current scientific research accessible to practicing clinicians and parents, and promoting the collaboration between research and clinical practice. Deanna provides direct and indirect consultation to therapists and parents at the Crimson Center, helps strengthen IEPs, collaborates on assessments for IEEs, and develops in-services for our staff.
